Episode 24: South End Tales

Chris and Gabe are back after a weird week on Louisville twitter. They first check in on the final version of the city budget, and some terrible cuts. Talk then switches to the Luke Smith controversies, and how Louisville fans responded. They cover the Billy Reed – South End incident, and what it represents for Louisville media at large. Finally they closed out with a few quick hitters and why the city should pursue professional women’s soccer.

Episode 23 - Game of Offer Sheets

After an exciting announcement and introduction, Chris (the resident Lakers fan) gives his initial reaction to the Anthony Davis trade and whether his team gave up too much. Gabe then turns the topic to basketball and Kentucky’s pursuit of Kerry Blackshear and it’s potential impact on the 2019-20 Wildcats. The boys also cover the transformation of Warriors and Louisville basketball crowds. They also tackle whether the reaction to Louisville’s influx of football commitments is worth being excited about and what they’re looking for from Satterfield’s first full recruiting class. The pod wraps up with speculation about NCAA infractions and an important discussion on the Louisville public pool situation that threatens to upend the summer of many local kids.

Episode 22: Nwora's Choice and Jones' Dilemma

Chris and Gabe are in a celebratory mood as they break down Jordan Nwora’s decision to rejoin the Louisville Cardinals for his junior season. The two discuss the importance of the decision for UofL’s on-court performance, how Nwora compliments the rest of the team and potential starting lineups for the 2019-20 season. They then jump into Matt Jones affirming that running against Mitch McConnell won’t stop his trash talking of UofL. The duo talk Jones’ real issue as a candidate seeking Louisville’s democratic votes and why his response to the story misses the mark. To finish, the guys react to Andy Beshear’s big primary win, Adam Edelen failing to win Louisville and what the race means for the future of Louisville politics.

Episode 21: Governor's (Primary) Ball

The Kentucky primaries are finally here and Chris and Gabe are ready to break everything down. The pair discusses the end of Game of Thrones, the state of horse racing post-Preakness, and of course the latest on Jordan Nwora’s NBA Decision. Then the boys go long on the state of the primary, what low turnout means for each candidate and a real investigation of how Matt Bevin lines up against each potential nominee.

Episode 20: Derby and Debates

The boys reconvene to discuss everything that’s happening with Derby Week. They go in-depth on the bubbling weather controversy as local meteorologists face potential rain on both Oaks and Derby. With the draw complete, the Derby field itself is discussed. Chris gives his winner, and Gabe looks for someone to back. After short looks into recent Louisville basketball and football news the talk shifts to local politics with the recent passing of an AirBNB policy by the metro government. And finally, the boys close the show going deep on the governor’s debates, campaign finance news and just how exactly Matt Bevin could win.

Episode 19: Governors, Governments and Pitino Time

The boys are back from a self-imposed hiatus to begin phase two of the What High School Did You Go To podcast. After a brief discussion Gabe’s Supreme habit (or not), the duo discusses sentiment around Pitino, the Democratic Governor’s Primary, Louisville’s overtime problem, Vince Tyra’s new hire, Bellairmine potentially joining D1 basketball and of course the coming of Derby season.

Episode 18: Louisville is Done Dancing

Louisville crashed out of the tournament and the duo has thoughts. In this week’s episode, Chris and Gabe examine the Minnesota loss, what blame Chris Mack gets for failures and the final grade on the season. They also discuss the tournament as a whole, the women’s basketball team’s successes, and whether Rick Pitino will get a job this offseason.

Episode 17: Twas the Night Before Madness

With just hours to go before the Big Dance begins, Gabe and Chris (live from his car) go deep on Louisville vs Minnesota and the bracket at large. The two discuss the euphoria that comes with being back in the tournament and why the Golden Gophers are such a good matchup for the Cardinals. Then they break down the bracket, region by region offering thoughts on who’s headed to Minneapolis and some potential upset picks.
